Hi I’m Andy Ward Landlord of The Talbot, I came to Ledbury 12 years ago to get the Talbot up and running. I was suppose to stay for a year , fell in love with Ledbury and stayed..

Now I would like to share with you in the form of a informal walk round our lovely town. Lets go window shopping as seen thr’o the eyes of some one who thought they knew Ledbury backwards. This will help you to find your way round some of the most amazing shops, pubs, hotels restaurants and lots more. It may not be perfect but it will hopefully show you what is available and where it is located,. So please if you want Ledbury to keep its character and have a future you must shop in Ledbury, spend a little time you will be amazed by what is on offer and how competitive the prices are and how much you can save on petrol and parking.

The Market House,

Everything Starts From Here

The Market House is my starting point the centre of Ledbury its history is covered elsewhere in the guide, but what I find amazing is that a major feat of restoration has taken place. The pillars needed to be made safe, so what did they do would you believe they jacked the whole of the Market House above the Pillars up so the could treat them. Incredible, Then they lowered it all back on to the pillars, put a New Roof on and Painted Everything the Town Council had to spend hundreds of thousands of pounds to preserve Ledbury’s Greatest, most well known Landmark for the future .
Do you know what, after all that work, the only visible difference from the outside is would you believe is under the window facing up to the top cross is an area of about 15ins in a star shape where the white paint had flaked off. Now the paintwork is perfect. Sorry to have to share this with you, it had been annoying me for years. Anyone Else Notice’.

What is going on in this little shop, there always seems to be smiling people patiently waiting for some of the finest pies and sausages and scotch eggs available to mankind. Such a relaxed atmosphere in which to shop. There must be a secret known only to the Waller family, how do they get their meats to taste so good. Supplied be local farmers the pork and beef is very special, almost orgasmic. I could go on for days about speciality sausages flavours to die for. This is what the sign says and Pip Powell partime local historian, part time bike fixer and full-time amazing character, thank you Pip for being you. In this crazy world in which we live a reality check is needed. Pip Powell is the man, his shop is full of goodies. And he does a great job on the bikes as well. This must be my all-time favourite shop in Ledbury make it yours soon.

You will never hear this from anyone who shops properly in Ledbury and The Llandiabo farm Shop is one of the main reasons why. You will find the most amazing selection of rare breed and local meats and cheeses, you will find a really exciting deli counter. But best of all you will find a selection of freshly prepared dishes using only the best ingredients for you to tale home and enjoy. I just love the home made scotch eggs.

Probably The Most Photographed pub in the World 01531 632250. Les, Elaine & Russell have just celebrated 5years of providing some of the best and most interesting selection of real ales and strange foreign beers( Russell says they are trendy he should know as he is young and I'm very old) Sorry I;m waffling again. The Prince has charm, character and one of the best atmospheres I have had the pleasure of experiencing. Quaint and beautifully formed (The Pub & Elaine ) The food is home made and the best value you will find for miles.

The Prince is in the good beer guide and deserves to be. Here's to the next 5 years of being extra special...
